Imi propusesem de mult sa citesc fie si numai „Profetul”, considerat capodopera sa. Am fost constiincioasa si am citit si introducerea, afland astfel ca Gibran a fost si un pictor consacrat, nu doar al treilea cel mai bine vandut poet dupa Shakespeare si Lao Zi. I-am cautat picturile pe net si am fost surprinsa de stilul lor, atat data fiind epoca in care au fost realizate cat si originile poetului, filozofului si pictorului care a fost Gibran: primul arabo-american caruia i s-a ridicat un monument pe teritoriul Washingtonului. Monument superb, inspirat, dupa mine, tot din opera lui Gibran: „Capul lui Orfeu plutind pe raul Hebrus catre mare<\/em>„. Aceasta plutire catre mare, intalnirea dintre izvoare si rauri cu marea apar de mai multe ori si in lucrarea sa in proza, frumoasa ca o poezie, „Profetul”.
